X-COUNTRY/SNOWSHOE DAY TRIPS

High Park Ski Club runs about 20 x-country/snowshoeing day trips throughout the winter on both Saturdays and Sundays. We visit a variety of resorts like Highlands Nordic, Horseshoe, Hardwood, Georgian Nordic, Wasaga Provincial Park etc. plus a few special places like Arrowhead Provincial Park.

For almost all day trips, you must be a club member to participate, and registration is done through the members’ side of the website. The only exceptions are our 2 Test-Drive Days (December 17/11 and January 15/12), which are open to the public.

Registration for each weekend day trip is open until 6 pm on the Thursday before that day trip. We update our website and Snow Phone with the status of each day trip on the Friday before it runs.

Day trip sign-up for members: Members who want to sign up for a day trip should log on to the members’ site then go to "Day Trips" and select "X-Country". The registration modules and complete instructions on how to register can be found there. This is also where you’ll find details on the pick-up spots and times, day trip status, etc.

How much does it cost? Prices can vary depending on the resort and how far we travel to get there. Here is an idea of what a x-country day trip might cost you:

·       Bus:          From $26 to $30

·       Trail fee:   From about $10 to $20

·       Rentals:    From about $20 to $35 for classic ski equipment; more for skate skis; less for snowshoes

How do I pay? Day trip costs are charged to your credit card when you register.

Rentals:  Most of the resorts we visit offer rental equipment. An instructor will help renters get their equipment on arrival at the resort.

Pickup locations and times: We have 4 standard pick-up spots on Saturdays and 5 on Sundays: Bloor West & Indian Road; Yonge & Davenport; Yonge & Eglinton; Yonge & York Mills and, on Sundays only, Hwy 400 & 7. First pick-up is generally at 7:50 am at Bloor & Indian Rd.

Lessons: We offer ski lessons on all day trips between January and late March. You can take both classic and skate-ski lessons at various levels, and you can take as many as you like. They are free with your club membership. Check the X-Country Ski School tab on the left-hand menu.
