X-COUNTRY ** Instructor Development

XC Instructor Development Group

Are you an intermediate cross-country skier who thinks that it could be fun to teach others how to ski? If you are then you are invited to join  the XC Instructor Development Group.

What is it?

The Instructor Development Group is targeted to skiers with a good base level of skiing who may be interested in teaching others how to ski. Each one of our sessions will be led by a high-level instructor with the club who will work on individualized skill development, with a focus on the skills that are evaluated at the CANSI Level I instructor course. We will provide individualized goals and development plans, detailed video analysis, and a variety of teaching methods with the eventual purpose of helping members of the group become formal instructor trainees with the Ski School and/or to take the CANSI Level I instructor course.

Am I qualified?

You are encouraged to join this skills development group if:

  • You are an intermediate level skier (skills at or well on your way to achieving a Silver level in our XC Ski Your Best program – see www.xcskitips.com for details) in either skating or classic.
  • You are committed to improving both your classic to a Silver level and potentially your skating technique as well.
  • You have an interest in teaching others to ski.
  • You would like to build the skills necessary to try for instructor certification.
