Ski-Fit & Brunch |
|
Some members tell us Ski-Fit & brunch is the club’s best kept secret. Many members don’t wait til the snow flies to have fun outdoors, meet others, and learn new skills and sports. Ski-Fit is for everyone. Use it to start being more active, or to augment your existing fitness program. There is no time to start like today. New members are always welcome!
Ski-Fit & Brunch is a great way to warm up to winter activity. Increase your fitness, meet HPSC friends, enjoy a leisurely brunch and get jazzed for the return of snow.
Here is what our member say:
"I am look forward to Ski-Fit! It was lots of fun last year and I liked getting to meet more people, especially on the downhill side since I usually go cross-country." - Theo
"The people in this club are so friendly, I felt very welcome here." - Judi
"Keep the Nordic walking - there is huge interest in this growing sport. The 10 weeks of coaching and activity in Ski-Fit alone make membership worthwhile." - Denise
"This isn’t a boot camp; anyone can participate." - Brian
Ski-Fit is a free program for all HPSC members. All you have to do is show up with your running or walking shoes and a water bottle.
What to bring: Running or walking shoes, water, warmer clothes in cooler weather and cash if you are buying breakfast.
If you miss sessions, that’s fine – Drop by any day.

From High Park Ave. and Bloor, take the road south into the park until you get to the Grenadier Restaurant; meet in the parking lot behind the restaurant.
8:55: meet in the Grenadier parking lot on the north side under the trees. Meet new friends and say hi to your ski-fit buddies.
9:00-9:30 - agility and warm up games (soccer, Frisbee, tab, hacky sac) new member check in
9:30-10:30 - split into smaller groups for cardio fun
runners, run/walkers, caffeinated walkers (a little faster), decaffeinated walkers (a little more relaxed). Nordic pole walking lesson groups split by skill level, speed or experience. Skill development while we are walking and enjoying the park
10:30 - back to the circle by the parking lot for a variety of activities (yoga, tai chi, core exercises, hill and bounding games, gate training on feet, or other skiing specific activities, and cool-down stretching).
11:00ish - a well deserved Brunch, or just join in for coffee.
If the rain man is threatening, come a long and we’ll adapt our activities to work under the forest canopy. If it is cool, just bring a hat or gloves and a suitable jacket. You may want an extra layer to put on after exercising and during breakfast....let’s face it, if it is dreary, we may head in earlier for drinks, brunch, and socializing!
