HPSC has taken steps to mitigate the effects of foreign exchange on our 2010 US overnight bus trips. Even if the Canadian dollar sinks against the US dollar as it did in 2009, we will be protected from any price increases in our US trips in 2010.

All applicable fuel surcharges and taxes in effect as of August have been included in the package price. However in these volatile times HPSC reserves the right to charge for unanticipated increases in the cost of fuel, foreign exchange and taxes imposed by the resort or bus company.

CANCELLATION INSURANCE

You are strongly encouraged to obtain trip cancellation insurance as you never know what might happen to you during the 2010 season. Many credit cards offer free cancellation insurance coverage by using their card. A number of other companies, eg, CAA, Ingles, banks, credit unions, etc. are in the business of selling trip cancellation insurance. All travel agencies will sell you trip cancellation insurance. Purchasing out-of-country medical insurance is a must for US travel.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

Visa and Mastercard are accepted for credit card payments. Using a card will cost you a bit more, but some members say getting the points and free travel insurance, is worth it.

CHEQUE PAYMENTS – NEW FOR 2010 TRIPS
At our Trip Sign-up nights, you’ll be able to pay for your 2010 OVERNIGHT BUS trips by cheque or credit card but not cash. Credit cards still require an extra $10 or $15 depending on whether the trip is priced below or above $500 to cover the bank’s processing fee. What is new for cheque payments is that you’ll now pay the full cost of the trip when you sign up. Previously you were able to pay with a $75 deposit cheque and a post-dated cheque for the balance. We are dropping this payment method because of the many bookkeeping and volunteer man-hours required to track and process post-dated cheques.

Payment methods for CHARTER trips have not changed. Tour operators set the deposit and post-dated amounts and your cheques are made payable to the tour operators, not HPSC.

SOLD OUT

If a trip is “Sold Out” you may still get on the trip by contacting the trip leader to get on a Waiting List that is kept for each trip. Cancellations occur from time to time and the trip leader will be more than happy to sign you up for one of those spots. You might also look at other trips that have open spots since you’ll have fun and enjoy yourself no matter which skiing destination you chose.

Check with the trip leader for any of our trips (you must be logged in).

CANCELLATION

When you sign up and pay for an OVERNIGHT BUS trip, HPSC reserves a spot on the trip for you. If you cannot make the trip and have to cancel, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid less the non-refundable cancellation fee. The non-refundable amount varies depending on the date you cancel. Please read and understand the criteria on the application form when you sign up as it has changed for 2010.

SINGLES

You don’t need a partner to go on any of our 18 charter and overnight bus trips. You can sign up as a single on any of them. Our trip leaders will match you up with a same gender roommate so you won’t have to pay a single supplement. You’ll get to ski with other members and meet people at your same ski level. The lessons on overnight bus trips are 1/2 day long so you’ll get some great instruction too. Having fun and meeting new people is what a long trip is all about. Come along and enjoy yourself.
